Values
Our mission is to help our animal buddies heal, grow, and bloom in sanctuary with us.
We envision a world filled with collaborative communities of people rooted in empathy toward animals and each other.
Our values are inspired by our mission and vision:
Healing. The word healing comes from both health and wholeness. We provide a safe environment where animals can heal physically and emotionally while receiving individualized healthcare.
Growing. We think of growth as positive progress. We facilitate animals’ mental and emotional growth through trust building and lifelong learning.
Blooming. At the sanctuary, blooming means thriving joyfully. We help animals bloom through enrichment and play in spaces designed to give them more choices.
Collaboration. To collaborate is to work together. We collaborate kindly with animals and humans by meeting them where they are because we believe everyone has something valuable to contribute.
Community. We view communities as gathering places where sharing happens. We are a community where animals and humans can share anything from space and ideas to food and fun.
Empathy. At its root, the word empathy means feeling with. We demonstrate empathy for animals and humans by imagining ourselves in their place so we can understand their feelings rather than judge or dismiss them.
The “Why”
Throughout the Midwest, animal sanctuaries receive frequent requests for rehoming animals such as miniature pigs, roosters, and other species requiring specialized care and housing. Blooming Buddies will help meet a significant need by providing the services above to precisely these kinds of animals and their human caregivers.
The “How”
Blooming Buddies Sanctuary will use its land, facilities, and resources to provide the following services in Dane County, Wisconsin:
Animal rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming
Permanent residence for animals in need
Temporary and permanent boarding for pet owners
Public and private tours of the sanctuary
Educational workshops on the care of animals we specialize in
Networking events for pet owners, relevant businesses, and other animal sanctuaries
Vegetable gardens to supplement animals’ diets and for donation to local food pantries
Dedicated space for preserving native plant and wildlife
To ensure sustainability, we will begin by focusing on a small population of a single species: miniature pigs. As resources permit, we will grow to include other animal species in need such as miniature horses, miniature cows, roosters, geese, and other farmed or companion animals.
